Akal Takht on Wednesday took strong note of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers wearing daggers resembling the Sikh “kirpan” during a march on Dussehra in Jalandhar.

In a statement issued here, Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said this was a deliberate attempt to hurt Sikh sentiments.

“This is an attempt to interference in our religious matters. This will not be tolerated,” he said

He said Sikhism was a separate religion, having its own distinct identity and traditions. “The Sikhs do not interfere in other religions and expect others to respect them and their faith,” he added.
