Nearly two months after HT highlighted a complaint submitted to the deputy commissioner’s office by the principal of Tender Heart School, Sector 33, regarding the submission of a fake income certificate under the economically weaker section (EWS), an inquiry has confirmed that the certificate was ‘incorrect’. A first-information report will also be lodged against the applicant, Hemant Bhatt and the two witnesses who signed the certificate.
After principal Vikrant Suri had submitted a written complaint, the DC had marked an inquiry to the SDM (South) in whose jurisdiction the applicant claimed to a resident of.
Confirming the income certificate as ‘incorrect’ in her report, SDM (South) Kriti Garg made four recommendations to the DC. The filing of an FIR against applicant Hemant Bhatt for giving a false undertaking claiming that the income of his wife was zero, when actually it is not. An FIR was also recommended against two witnesses, who supported the false claims.
She also recommended that the said income certificate be cancelled, and action ‘as deemed fit’ may be taken against patwari Vinod Kumar.
DC Ajit Balaji Joshi told HT, “On the basis of recommendations made by the SDM, we have initiated legal action.” The SDM verified that family did not stay at the address mentioned in the form. Principal Vikrant Suri said, “I am glad that the government has taken action. I hope that more schools verify income certificates and report any anomaly.”
