The summer vacations are round the corner and even if they aren’t meant for the office-goers, there’s no better time than summer to take up a hobby or passion. With a plethora of interesting summer workshops in town offering everything from foreign languages, contemporary dance and theatre to photography, art, music and sport, there’s something for everyone to explore. So ditch hiding inside the house and step out — we get you interesting options to choose from.
Art
This summer, engage in traditional Indian craft workshops. From folk paintings, calligraphy and clay relief tiles to Kavad story-box making and mask-making, there’s a wide range to choose from. Craftsmen and tribal artists from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Orissa will visit to give lessons in India’s rich cultural heritage. This workshop is open for all. Registrations close on May 16.

Music
If you can’t do without your daily dose of music and have been waiting to get your hands on learning drums, guitar, piano and vocals, it’s a good time to begin. The course aims to impart knowledge of different forms of music.

Graphic design
If your interest lies in sketching, designing posters, banners, magazine covers and typography, go for a quick two-month workshop in it. Classes will be conducted five times a week. You will also be provided with study material, post training assistance, certification of course and customised training modules.

Can’t get off the dance floor at any party? Get fit and re-discover your body, mind and soul by learning jazz, ballet, gymnastics and contemporary dance.

Photography and travel
The idea is to make photography fun for all, and easy to understand. Conducted by travel writer-photographer Ajay Jain, the teachings keep in mind all kinds of cameras — DSLRs, compact and mobile. Each batch is spread over 3 weekends, and includes both theory classes + field shoots. Besides basics, travel photography — wildlife, portraits and landscapes are also covered.

Language
Learning a foreign language is always a bonus. After French and German, Spanish is catching popularity. Enroll yourself for a level one batch (A1) which is divided into two parts, 60 hours each, and find yourself speaking fluent Spanish.

Theatre and dance
