Disney’s Club Penguin (clubpenguin.com) — the free and very popular kiddie-targetted website — has a heart. In its fourth annual event called Coins for Change, children who visit the snow-covered virtual world of Club Penguin can now donate virtual coins that they earn by playing games online. These virtual donations will help real world causes such as providing medical help, building safe places and protecting the earth.

This is how it works: Disney Online will tally the number of coins at the end of the event to determine how it will divide its $1 million contributions to pre-selected charitable projects. Till now, Club Penguin claims that players have already helped more than two million people get medical care. This year, they are hoping to notch up similar numbers.
