Le Sutra, Bandra’s newest hotel kicks off an exhibition of chairs created by various artists, on May 16.

Le Sutra, Bandra’s newest hotel kicks off an exhibition of chairs created by various artists, on May 16. This is the hotels first exhibition in its gallery space. The Chair Exhibition features 36 chairs created by 29 artists, sculptors and furniture designers from across India.

“Made from wood, fiber glass, steel, aluminum and gold foil, the exhibition represents a path-breaking attempt to explore the form and design of a chair by bringing in aspects from philosophy, practical life, anatomy and emotions, where each work is an installation of functional art,” explains Radha Bajaj, who curated the exhibition.

The chairs are utility art. Among the artists are Ajit Shevade, Anand Prabhudesai, Arzan Khambatta, Madhuri Bhaduri, Rajendra Chaudhary, Neil Dantas, Bhuwanesh Gowda and Shalini Kapoor. The exhibition is on at Gallery Le Sutra until May 25 at the hotel in Union Park, Khar from 11am to 11pm.
