Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been urged to name the Chief Ministerial candidate of the party in the poll bound Manipur soon to give an edge to party’s ongoing pol campaign. Manipur goes to two-phase assembly polls on March 4 and 8 next.

According to reports in local media, BJP’s Manipur Pradesh election management committee convenor Th Chaoba Singh said he had called on the Prime Minister Modi for few minutes in New Delhi in this regard on Tuesday.
Former President Chaoba of BJP Manipur unit claimed that Prime Minister assured that he will look into it after consultation with party President as announcement of a Chief Ministerial candidate of the party which is taking on the ruling Congress is very important considering BJP’s bright prospect in upcoming polls.
Expressing confidence of the party’s success in March polls, former Union Sports Minister also informed that he had proposed the Prime Minister to visit the state and join the ongoing party’s poll campaign either on February 25 or 26.The Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar will be arriving here to attend filing his (Chaoba’s) nomination paper for the polls, he added.
However BJP state unit president Kh Bhavananda when contacted on phone on Wednesday said that there is no such initiative as of now.
