A 13-year-old boy died after he accidentally shot himself with a country-made revolver in Chhatarpur.
Mohammad, the son of Rafiq Khan, had found the revolver lying somewhere in the locality and brought it home.
The incident occurred at Neguan in Chhatarpur district, 344 km east of Bhopal. He was injured and rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police did not rule out the possibility of foul play though preliminary inquiry suggests that the weapon was already loaded and it went off when the boy was handling it.
Town inspector (TI) Ramakant Mishra said it appeared to be a case of accidental firing but all aspects of the case were being examined.
"We are looking into all the angles. It will be probed as to how the boy got the weapon," Mishra added.
