Bhopal: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) allegedly destroyed portions of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal’s boundary wall for the chief minister’s programme to be organised on Sunday.

The boundary wall was demolished from two places near Anand Nagar and opposite to Akashwani office on Friday evening at around 4 pm.
On Sunday, the state government will organise a mass event for beneficiaries of various public welfare schemes run by the government. More than 7 lakh people are expected to attend the event in which chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be present.
“The boundary wall was demolished by BMC without prior permission from BHEL management. The whole boundary wall of the BHEL premises is of about 20 kms long and was built at a cost of `25 crore. BMC brought bulldozers to demolish the wall,” said BHEL employee and president of Youth Indian National Trade Union Congress, Deepak Gupta while speaking to HT adding that about 6 to 7 mts of wall was demolished from two places.
He further told HT that there is already a main gate for entry to the Jamboori ground despite but the wall was broken nonetheless.
“At one place, the wall was demolished hardly 10 mts from another entrance gate. Apart from that they have also destroyed some part of the pavement along the boundary wall. The BMC have said nothing about the repairing of the wall so far and I am not sure that they will repair it. They said that the wall is broken to give access to the buses carrying the people coming to the event,” said Gupta.
He also said that the BMC men were trying to destroy the only football ground of the BHEL Bhopal unit.
