A former contractual government employee has written the words “humari bhool kamal ka phool” (Our mistake was to vote for lotus symbol) on his sister’s wedding card in Deori town of Sagar district to protest against his removal from service.
The protest is the brainchild of Anurag Jain who worked as a contractual employee for seven years for a central government scheme which was mandated to combat malaria. He was removed from service in June 2017.
His unique form of protest became an instant hit on social media.
Anurag said he and 773 others had been appointed in 2010 under the scheme. However, they were all thrown out by the state government in June 2017 when the central scheme ended.
Jain said in other states, the government has absorbed the workers, but this was not done in Madhya Pradesh.
“We met the chief minister and health minister, but only received assurances,” Jain said.
He added that he would continue his protest by pasting the same slogan everywhere he could.
BJP Sagar division spokesman Pradeep Rajoriya defended the government saying they were working for overall development and there must be genuine reason for the state government’s decision.
Most of the comments on social media were jibes at the government. Some commended Jain’s new form of protest.
Apart from the message, the rest of the card is normal, giving details of the wedding and the families..
