Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan and 16 other owners have been asked by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) to deposit money spent on demolition of illegal structures allegedly constructed by them, official sources said on Wednesday
Notices seeking money spent on demolition of illegal structures during an anti-encroachment drive were issued to Bachchan and 16 other flat owners of an apartment on Wednesday, Mayor Sunib Sood told PTI.
The BMC had razed illegal structures twice last year after some upper-floor flat owners complained to the Lok Ayukta that the constructions were encroaching on their parking area, he said.
The ground-floor flat owners had moved courts against BMC action, but were not granted any relief.
The BMC has charged Rs 1,400 to Rs 21,000 from the ground flat owners. Bachchan, who owns two flats where her mother Indira Bhaduri stays, was asked to pay Rs 2,800, sources said.
