Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Spokesperson Manak Agrawal, in a complaint to the Election Commission, said the party was demanding Swaraj be declared unfit for contesting polls as she had organised a press conference at the government residence allotted to her on Friday.

Agrawal said journalists were served food at the conference and this was in total violation of the model code.

Before the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had not been given permission to hold a press conference at a government building in Indore, he said.

Agrawal said that since the house where Swaraj was staying was a government building, no press conference could be organised there.

However, Swaraj told reporters that since the house had been allotted to her, she could very well use it to address a press conference and serve food to journalists.
