Ruckus at Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal over 'child swapping'

Kin of a woman patient created ruckus at Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal on Friday. They levelled allegations against the hospital staff for 'swapping' their newborn boy with a girl.

Bhopal: Kin of a woman patient created ruckus at Hamidia Hospital on Friday while levelling allegations against the hospital staff for allegedly swapping their newborn male child with a female one.

Lakshmi Yadav, a resident of Neelbad area in Bhopal, delivered a baby boy five days ago in the paediatrics ward of Hamidia Hospital.

As the child was weak and critical, he was admitted to sick newborn care unit of the hospital.

Usually, parents and other outsiders are not allowed to enter the ward to avoid germs. On Thursday evening, the hospital staff asked Lakshmi and her husband to take their girl child for sonography. When the staff cited the words ‘girl child’, the parents were shocked. The hospital administration has assured the parents to resolve the issue soon.
