'The district administration has assured us to resolve our issues regarding contract letter. The officials promised to help us in getting contract letter from schools so that we can get permit from RTO', said member of School Vahan Chalak Kalyan Samiti Mohammad Younis Qureshi.

He said RTO and traffic police were taking action against the school vans unnecessarily. They are trying to harass us by doing so. The school van drivers have issues with schools due to which they are unable to get the permits from RTO.

The schools are not providing them letters which is mandatory to get a permit, said Qureshi. He further said if district administration fails in fulfilling their demands, they would again go on strike.

There are around 2000 school vans operators under School Vahan Chalak Samiti who participated in the strike on Thursday. Around 60-70 schools were affected due to the strike.
