Police, however, suspect the woman and her family members of trying to frame the accused as there were allegedly contradictions in their statements. They also suspect that the woman was having an affair with the 35-year-old man, who is also a father of two.

A case was, however, registered against the accused, who is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar locality, on charges of kidnapping and rape under relevant sections of IPC. Police are also on the lookout for the accused.

According to the complainant, on January 22 the accused lured the woman to accompany him to Indore, where he raped her for six days in a hotel. He later brought the woman back to Bhopal and held her captive in an apartment in Panchawati colony where he repeatedly raped her, the complainant has said.

Investigating officer, sub-inspector Vandana Dubey said: “The victim somehow escaped from the apartment and reached home on Friday…(and) lodged a complaint on Monday as there was a wedding in their house.”

Police sources say the complaint could be a fake as the family had organised the marriage of their elder daughter when their second child was ‘missing’ for over three months.
