Will never work in a state jail, says daughter of slain warder

“Even if I get a government job after my father’s killing, I am ready to work anywhere, but not in any of the jails of MP,” said Soniya, who was slated to be married next month.
She blamed the systematic failure of security at the “highly secured” jail for her father’s death.
“It’s true my father died battling the eight SIMI men, but how did that attack take place? Had the jail administration put in place adequate security system, the attack would have never taken place and I would have never lost my father,” she said.
Soniya, who holds degree in Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Education, said: “My father rarely talked about workplace tensions at home. But whenever he was stressed up, he told us that everything was not fine in the jail.”
“He particularly told us how the SIMI men lodged in the jail were calling the shots, their cells were hardly checked and they did what they wanted to do. Even when the jail staff complained about their abusive behaviour to the officials, the subordinate security staff was told to remain quiet and allow the SIMI men as they wanted to live,” said Soniya.
She said she doesn’t want any other Soniya to lose her father, “so chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should promptly put back in place a proper security set up in the jail, which still houses 21 SIMI men”.
The young girl also alleged his father had to work on night shifts regularly in the block housing the SIMI men despite his requests.
On Wednesday, some other jail staff had also alleged that SIMI men lodged in the high-security A and B block lived life king-size by getting what they wanted to eat and every other stuff they wanted to have from their relatives was allowed into the jail.
