Aamir Khan is smoking, again

The release of Dhoom:3 is reportedly making Aamir Khan nervous and the anxiety is said to have made him get back to smoking. Khan had quit smoking in 2011.

Bollywood heroes are adept at kicking baddies around on the silver screen. But many of them are known to battle hard when it comes to kicking the butt.

In January 2011, Aamir Khan had quit smoking for good (he confessed to the same in an interview last year). However, in the past few days, people close to the star have spotted him "lighting up cigarettes".

When probed further, we were told that ’s upcoming film is to be blamed for the relapse.

Apparently, the actor has been overheard discussing his "anxiety and nervousness" issues with his friends as Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Aamir Khan-starrer (which stars him in the lead) gets ready to open later this month.

Interestingly, in an interview last year, he had admitted to slipping up. "(In the past) whenever my film was about to hit the theatres, I got nervous. And I felt that a cigarette could ease the pressure," he had stated back then.

Apparently, Aamir’s children, son Junaid and daughter Ira, his wife Kiran and mother Zeenat, played an instrumental role in getting him to give up smoking. And Aamir has struggled to keep the resolve until now.

Back in January 2008, the actor wrote on his blog that he has "finally kicked the bad habit". But a few months later (in June), around the release of Imran Khan’s Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, he confessed that he once again gave in to the temptation of smoking. "I get really stressed when any of my films is about to release (sic)," he wrote.

Whether or not Aamir will give up this addiction is a question only time will answer.

"We have no idea whether Aamir will continue smoking after the release of his . It might merely be a passing phase due to the anxiety. But for the time being, he is relying on nicotine; although he isn’t smoking as many cigarettes as he used to," says an insider.

Despite repeated attempts, Aamir, who is busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, couldn’t be reached for comment.
