Producer Sunil Bohra, who recently acquired the remake rights to the 1971 film Mere Apne, is on the lookout for the right cast. “We have shortlisted a few names and plan to talk to the actors soon. The roles of Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha need to be locked first followed by the legendary Meena Kumari’s role,” says Bohra.

Like many other filmmakers who change the plots of original films for their remakes, Bohra too will put in his bit in the original story.

“It will be set in today’s times in UP. For Meenaji’s role we will cast a senior actor who will suit the role. And for either Vinod’s or Shatrughan’s roles, I want to cast Abhishek Bachchan. Both the roles are powerful and have an edge. I have approached him and hopefully next week we will have a meeting to talk about the project.”
