Airlift storms box office, mints Rs.44.30 crore over opening weekend
Akshay Kumar-Nimrat Kaur-starrer Airlift, which revolves around the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the 1990 Iraq-Kuwait war, collected Rs 44.30 crore at the box office over the opening weekend.
Akshay Kumar has defeated latest sex comedy at the box office with almost double the numbers: While Airlift collected Rs 44.30 crore over the opening weekend, Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 earned a mere Rs 20.15 crore in the first three days.
Considering Akshay Kumar-Nimrat Kaur-starrer Airlift was made on an estimated budget of Rs 30 crore, it is set to have a decent run at the ticket windows.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Airlift had excellent trending over the weekend. Received tremendous love from movie-goers, which explains the day-wise growth. #Airlift went from strength to strength with each passing day. Friday Rs.12.35 crore, Saturday Rs.14.60 crore, Sunday Rs.17.35 crore. Total: Rs.44.30 crore. India biz. Fab,” he added.
Airlift tells how the Indian government evacuation of 1,70,000 people of Indian origin and also of other nationalities through 488 flights during the Iraq-Kuwait war. Airlift also stars Feryna Wazheir and Purab Kohli.

Meanwhile, Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 had a rather dull opening. While the movie made an opening collec tion of Rs 8.15 crore, the earnings took a dip on Saturday. “#KyaaKoolHainHum3 Fri 8.15 cr, Sat 5.50 cr, Sun 6.50 cr. Total: ? 20.15 cr. India biz,” Taran Adarsh tweeted.
