Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan’s Kalank was shot at a Rs 10 crore film set in Mumbai

According to a new report, a set worth Rs 10 crore was set up in Mumbai’s Filmcity for Kalank. It depicted a palace in old Delhi of the 1940s.

Dharma Productions’ next presentation, Kalank, which will release on April 17, is among the most anticipated films of 2019. With a stellar cast including Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapoor, the film is a period drama, set in 1940s.

Now, it has come to light that Dharma Productions built a Rs 10 crore set in Filmcity in Mumbai to recreate the era. According to a report in Filmfare, a palace was built in Mumbai’s Filmcity, which will represent old Delhi.

A glimpse of it was visible in the teaser too. The two-minute teaser featured the entire cast of the film, and transported one to the 1940s era.

 

Along with the varied hues of love, the Abhishek Varman-directed period drama is expected to highlight the trials and tribulations of love with spotlight on communal tensions.

Speaking at the launch of the teaser, Karan had said that all the female characters have pivotal roles in Kalank. He has said: “We are brought into this world by women. I am raised by strong women and I would say that these three women characters are the heart, soul and spine of Kalank. So, their strength, beauty and intellect (is something) men could never match up.” Adding to it, Sonakshi said: “Hopefully, a time will come when such questions will not pop up any more.”

Presented by Fox Star Studios, the film is produced by Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, and co-produced by Fox Star Studios.
