Just four days after the first poster of Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer

Anjaani Anjaani
became public, director Siddharth Anand told
HT City
it is being withdrawn after fans pointed out its stark similarity to that of the 2009 British film
An Education
, right down to the way the actors have placed their hands.

“We have withdrawn the poster after we learnt of the similarity. We will now have a fresh photo shoot done.” he says, calling it a “co-incidence”. “We based this poster on an image from a fashion magazine. It had nothing to do with the British film. Anyway, images don’t have a copyright, so such a mix up can happen,” he says.
Interestingly, the film’s storyline is also strikingly similar to 1999 French film,
The Girl On The Bridge
, in which the protagonists meet on a bridge when both are about to commit suicide. But Anand defends himself, saying, “No one knows the entire story of my film, how can they say this?”

Fans aren’t too amused about all the copying. “This is sooo chheap!” writes Karankapur on
pinkvilla.com
. “Can’t they be original? Wasn’t copying films enough that they’re copying posters now?” writes Anon.
