Neha Hinge is the newest beauty queen to step into B-town. Hinge, who earned the title of the Miss Indian International in 2010, had previously earned a role in a Madhur Bhandarkar film as a prize for winning a subtitle competition called Bollywood Diva.

But this September, she’s making her debut with Luv U Soniyo, a film directed by Joe Rajan starring another new face, Tanuj Virvani.

“Madhur chose me for one of his movies, but then he happened to refer me to Joe, who met me and offered to sign the contract that very day,” says Hinge, who at that time did not know what film the Heroine director had in mind for her. “So I took it up.”

Currently, Neha prides herself with the fact that she is the only pageant winner who was in the midst of shooting her first Hindi film during her crowning reign. “By the time I passed on the crown, I had already shot 50 per cent of this film,” she says, excitedly.

Unlike most new actors, she openly admits to having fantasised about running around trees and always looking good since she was in class five. “Every Indian girl dreams of being an actress,” she says, adding that she wants more glamorous roles.

“I don’t want to be typecast. The Miss India title helped me a lot. But it isn’t a pathway into films for me,” says Neha, who hasn’t been trained in acting and aims to do ‘character roles’ in films after her September release.
