It’s an open secret that Tamil composer GV Prakash Kumar, who is the nephew of Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman, has made his Bollywood debut with Shirish Kunder’s ambitious project, Joker.

Although he has composed many songs for the film, the 24-year-old hasn’t created the film’s much-hyped item number Kaafirana. The song was filmed with Chitrangada Singh and choreographed by Shirish’s wife and the film’s co-producer, Farah Khan.

Apparently, Kumar was ready to compose the song. “But whenever the makers asked him about it, he would say that the work is still in progress and it would be delivered on time.

When they didn’t get it on time, they roped in another composer, Gaurav Dagaonkar,” says an insider.

As a result, the credit for the film’s music has been given to Prakash as well as Gaurav.

When contacted, Shirish Kunder remained unavailable for a comment.

Prakash has also composed the background score for Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur.
