Athiya Shetty is rumoured to be starring in a film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Athiya Shetty, who delivered a hit film Mubarakan last year, surprised everyone when her rumoured next was announced. A quirky-comedy opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui! This unlikely pair generated a lot of buzz, but Athiya clarifies that nothing’s concrete yet, “I can’t talk about this, it’s very initial. It just came out when it wasn’t supposed to. It wasn’t the right time to talk about it. But I have been reading really interesting scripts.”

Her latest project, meanwhile, isn’t a film, but a song in which she features alongside rapper Badshah. The song, Tere Naal Nachna has been shot for the film Nawabzaade, which is choreographer- director Remo D’ Souza’s production. On why she chose to feature in the song, Athiya says, “I think Badshah himself was the reason. I am his big fan and love his music. He’s super-talented and effortless, and has been able to create an impact on our generation through music. Moreover, he’s a nice person, and that translates into his music.”

Asked which genre of music is her favourite, she giggles, “Everybody makes fun of me because I have no genre! My playlist is filled with different music. I decide the genre according to my mood. Right now, I am listening to John mayer because it’s raining outside (the monsoon season). I love music, and it decided how my day is going to go.”

Many actors such as Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar have turned singer for their films. Does Athiya see herself behind the mic in the near future? “I am a bathroom singer, that’s for sure, and that’s where I will remain! (laughs)I was in the choir in school. You tell me to dance or act, I will do everything, but I am shy of singing in public,” she signs off.
