HT City’s Stars in the City this time was more of a birthday party, with lucky winners turning up with life-size greetings cards, gift-wrapped cakes and a host of other presents for their heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, who had just turned 31, on Saturday. And without showing an iota of starry tantrum, Ranbir, like a true gentleman, not only accepted each of their gifts, but even obliged by shaking a leg with them on his popular numbers — Badtameez dil and Besharam, the latter being the title track of his upcoming film that releases today.

The fun session, conducted by HT City editor Sonal Kalra, also saw the very sporting Kapoor lad defending his ‘Besharam’ title, saying, “Through this film, we are not saying ki aap kapde utaar ke besharam ho jao, we want to convey ki aap dil se besharam bano... do what your heart desires.” On being asked what was the toughest past while shooting the film, Ranbir pulled down his tee a little bit, and said, “This. Abhinav wanted me to grow my chest hair!”

Well, when it comes to Ranbir, how can there not be a question on his ‘date’, but this one was with a twist, as one of the winners, Shikha, prodded him on which heroine he’d have wanted to date from the ’50s. “That has to be Madhubala,” said Ranbir, adding, “She was extremely beautiful, but apart from that, whatever I have heard or seen of her in films, she seemed a very nice person.” Next was Chandni, who requested Ranbir to say one of his favourite dialogues, and he instantly obliged, saying, “Main udna chahta hoon Chandni, doudna chahta hoon, bus girna nahin chahta hoon!” We next questioned him on his October 2 release fixation, as two of his earlier films, Wake Up Sid and Anjaana Anjaani too released on this day. “No fixation, just mauke ka fayeda utha raha hoon because it’s Gandhiji’s birthday. Sabki chutti hogi aur sab meri film dekhne jayenge. You can call it besharmi!” he signed off.
