Divinaa Thackur: I had to put on about eight to ten kilos for the role
Actor Divinaa Thackur shares how she had to gain weight for her debut trilingual film opposite Kunal Kapoor.
After trying her luck in short films and commercials, Divinaa Thackur wanted to work on the big screen. So when she got her break in a trilingual film, Divinaa left no stone unturned to get into the skin of her character. The actor not just gained weight but also got herself trained in martial arts and sword fighting.

“My director’s brief was that my character is voluptuously hot. So, I had to put on about eight to ten kilos for the role. But then she (her character) being a warrior, I had to learn Kalaripayattu and Urumi sword fighting. Practicing and shooting these things required so much hard work that I used to lose all the extra kilos by the end of it. And then I had to gain the weight all over again,” says Divinaa adding that it was challenging for her to get into the psyche of the character as there were a lot of darker shades to her.
Divinaa feels lucky to have bagged the project despite having no background in the film industry. “When you start as an actor, you have this hunger to do well. And you usually don’t have any say about the kind of work you want to do. But I consider myself lucky to have got the opportunity to work in this film that made me push myself to give my best,” she explains.
