Titled Silent Screams: India’s Fight Against Rape, the 45-minute film is directed by Pria Somiah Alva and written by Manira Alva Pinto. It features scribe, Namita Bhandare, who talks about how she filed an online petition against rape. The petition was also submitted to the Justice JS Verma Committee. The movie decodes the politics of rape and humiliation and includes interviews with the family of the Delhi gangrape victim, other rape-survivors, police officers and lawyers. “Me and my team just could not film for quite some time, after we began speaking with the family,” she says.

Meanwhile, the producers have said that the film, which has bagged the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union Perspective Award, will be dubbed in other Indian languages too. “We are in talks with media channels to showcase the film. The next step is to dub it in other languages,” says Alva.
