“I don’t do villainous or positive roles. I play human characters. They are both positive and negative. If you say that I do only villain roles then your research is wrong,” the 42-year-old actor says.

Manoj has played negative roles in films like Aks, Road, Raajneeti and Aarakshan, but maintains that his characters can’t be called villains.

“Shool was not a villain’s role, Zubeidaa wasn’t either, and Lanka has me in grey shades. The character is like any human being in the society... We all have positive and negative aspects. So, they can’t be called villains,” adds Bajpayee, whose upcoming films include Chittagong, Gangs Of Wasseypur and The Whisperers.
