Ek Villain smashes BO records of Humshakals, earns Rs 50.7 crore over weekend

Mohit Suri's romantic thriller is the second highest opener of 2014. Beating Sajid Khan's Humshakals, collected Rs. 12 crore on day one. The film that has re-invented Riteish Deshmukh's image as an actor, earned Rs 16.54 crore on Saturday.
The movie further picked up on Sunday to collect Rs 17.44 crore. With a total of Rs 50.7 crore collections from 2539 screens, almost half of what Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho released in, Ek Villain is practically the biggest opener of 2014. Jai Ho collected Rs 17.8 crore on day one and the weekend earnings were Rs 60 crore.

The actors, Siddharth, Shraddha and Riteish, meanwhile, are thanking fans for the 'overwhelming' love they showered on the film.
