In a video posted by the students of FTII, Kapoor says that people with a respectable body of work should be given the post of responsibility in FTII which is seen as the premiere institute of filmmaking in India. He also advocated the students’ right to protest Chauhan’s appointment.

Earlier it was TV and film actor Pallavi Joshi who wrote to the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry stating that she does not want to be a part of Film and Television Institute of India society owing to the atmosphere of negativity around the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan and the subsequent protest by students.

Filmmaker Jahnu Barua also offered to resign from his post in the FTII Society.
