It is a known fact that Katrina Kaif was introduced in Bollywood by Salman Khan. Katrina debuted with Kaizad Gustad's film Boom in 2003 which didn't give her much fame and she only got noticed in Salman Khan starrer Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya in 2005. After that she rose to fame with films like Partner (2007), Race (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008) and her latest being Yash Chopra’s swan song Jab Tak Hai Jaan. But Ek Tha Tiger (2012) opposite Salman takes the cake for smashing records at the box office.
In an interview to India Times in 2012, Katrina Kaif admitted that Salman Khan has been a guide: "His presence in my life was for guidance and, straightforward and simple views. He has immense knowledge of the industry and this is where he helped me from going astray. Yes, I owe him gratitude, but it’s unfair to say I would have not got a break without Salman", the actress told the website.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif also started dating in 2010 and broke up after a year. Katrina Kaif came clean in an interview with a magazine in 2011 saying that she is no longer seeing the superstar.
However, the reason is one of Bollywood's best kept secrets.
During Ek Tha Tiger promotions, Salman Khan was asked if they's get back together, to which replied: "We can’t be a real life couple. You can fall in love (with her) not only on screen but off screen too. That’s why people love Katrina, and follow her in hordes wherever she goes.”
Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan continue to be close friends and the actress is part of his family's inner circle.
The actress shot to fame with Salman Khan's Dabangg. We all know how Salman Khan encouraged Sonakshi Sinha to lose weight and join Bollywood as he could sense talent in her.
“Whenever Salman criticizes me, he does it in a very positive way. Because of him only I lost so much of weight. I am an actress because of him and he is very happy about it. Whatever he says, I take it in a very positive spirit,” Sonakshi told IANS in a 2012 interview.Salman's prediction came true this time as well! Sonakshi Sinha gave hits like Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar and Dabangg 2.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Reportedly it was Salman Khan who recommended Aishwarya Rai to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. This mega hit proved to be a turning point in Aishwarya's career. The two started dating on the film's sets.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is now happily married to actor Abhishek Bachchan.
Zarine Khan's career began while visiting the set of Yuvraj at Subhash Ghai's film school Whistling Woods. Salman Khan noticed her and decided to cast her for his friend Vijay Galani's film Veer because, he said, "She looks the character — the sweet princess she is playing in Veer".
After a dry spell her second film, a multi-starrer, Housefull 2 came which became a huge commercial success. Khan has also garnered recognition for her item number Character Dheela in Ready. Incidentally it's a Salman Khan film which turned out to be the second highest grossing Bollywood film in 2011.
Sneha Ullal was Arpita Khan's (Salman's younger sister) college mate and the friendship led to a chance meeting with Salman Khan and a film was offered to her. But it's a little difficult to not be reminded of Aishwarya Rai when one sees her face. And those eyes...
When Lucky, unluckily for her audience only noticed the similarity with a certain big-league actress. She later said that although the comparison didn't help her as an actor, but it gave her a lot of recognition. Ullal then appeared with Khan's brother Sohail Khan in Aryan, which did not do well at the box office.Sneha Ullal couldn't do much in Bollywood and now has moved to the South film industry.
In 1993, Somy Ali came to Mumbai from US. With Salman Khan’s help, she made her debut in Anth (1993).
The two came close but eventually broke up in 1998 due to Salman’s excessive drinking and abusive behaviour. There were even rumours of Salman smashing a Cola bottle on the former's head while they were dating in the 90s but Somy has denied this in a recent interview to HT.
