Gold box office collection found its mojo again as the week eased into the weekend. The Akshay Kumar film, which saw a huge drop on Thursday and a slight spike on Friday is expected to earn around 11-12 crore on Saturday, according to Box Office India. With its four day collection at BO, Akshay’s film will cross 50-crore mark and cement its lead over John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate that also released on Independence Day.

Gold box office day 4 collection is expected to take its tally to ₹55 crore approximately.

Akshay Kumar’s Gold opened on Wednesday with 25.25 crore earning. The film’s patriotic feel, the actor’s box office pull and a national holiday combined to make Gold Akshay’s biggest opening day ever. From there on, the numbers fell drastically but the movie is finally stabilizing.

After 25.25 crore at the box office on Wednesday, Gold earned 8 crore on Thursday, 10 crore on Friday and is expecting to take its total collection to approximately 55 crore with its Saturday earning. In comparison to Gold, Satyameva Jayate was not that successful in overcoming the Thursday slump. The John Abraham film has earned 33.5 crore in three days and is expected to earn about 7 crore on Saturday.

Gold is based on India winning its first gold in hockey at the 1948 London Olympics as a free country. The Reema Kagti film stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor in important roles. As both Gold and Satyameva Jayate are doing well in their respective circuits, the weekend collections will act as a deciding factor towards the films’ successful run in the box office, says the report.

earlier, trade analyst Taran Adarsh had written about the rare five-day weekend Gold and Satyameva Jayate are enjoying, “A *5-day extended opening weekend* is a rarity... If #Gold and #SatyamevaJayate manage to cement their status by recording solid numbers over the next few days, an impressive lifetime total will be on the cards... It’s a wait and watch situation right now.”
