Gold vs Satyameva Jayate box office day 5: Akshay Kumar leads John Abraham by Rs 15 cr

Satyameva Jayate and Gold box office first weekend collection together stands at Rs 125 crore. The Akshay Kumar and John Abraham films released on Independence Day and got a five-day weekend.

The first weekend is over and Gold box office collection has managed to trump Satyameva Jayate’s box office earning by a margin. The Akshay Kumar sports drama and John Abraham’s film about vigilante justice clashed on Independence Day with spectacular results. However, the next day brought a drastic dip for both the films as it was a working day. While both Gold and Satyameva Jayate picked up at box office in the coming days, they couldn’t achieve the Independence Day momentum.

Satyameva Jayate vs Gold box office collection: Akshay Kumar film stays ahead of John Abraham’s action drama.

Akshay Kumar’s Gold started its box office run with Rs 25.25 crore on Wednesday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Monday revealed that the Satyameva Jayate and Gold box office collection over the first weekend are in the range of Rs 125 crore. “And the biz multiplies on Sun... Both, #Gold and #SatyamevaJayate have recorded strong figures over the *5-day extended weekend*... Combined biz is approx 125 cr nett [+/-]... Ironically, approx one-third biz [of Rs 125 cr] was accumulated on #IndependenceDay alone,” he wrote.

The Akshay Kumar film earned Rs 25.25 crore on Independence Day, dropped drastically on Thursday with Rs 8 crore earning, Friday saw an upward trend with Rs 10 crore collection which sustained over the weekend with Saturday bringing Rs 12 crore estimated earnings and Sunday bringing Rs 15.5 crore. Gold’s total earnings so far stand at Rs 71 crore.

Satyameva Jayate has also stayed strong over the weekend. According to Taran, the film has made Rs 56 crore so far.

Satyameva Jayate box office collection is estimated to be around Rs 50 crore.

While Akshay’s Gold had released on 3,050 screens in India, John’s action drama was released on 2,500 screens. With their mammoth first day collections, the films together had beaten the highest opening day record in the Hindi film circuit, which belonged to Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 40 crore net collections.

Gold and Satyameva Jayate became Akshay Kumar and John Abraham’s biggest openers ever, respectively. At Rs 25.25 crore, Gold has beaten Akshay’s highest opening day collections so far, that of Singh Is Bliing (Rs 16.98 crore) while John’s highest opening day earning, in a solo film, was Force 2 that had made Rs 5.75 crore.
