I am like a nomad: Mawra Hocane goes house hunting in Mumbai

Mawra Hocane, who shuttles between Karachi and Mumbai for work, is now looking to rent a house in the city.

Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane says she is bowled over by Mumbai. In fact, the 22-year-old, who shuttles between Karachi and Mumbai for work, has now decided to rent an apartment in the city.

Mawra also can’t stop praising India. She says she has received “a lot of love and respect here”.

“I have been living in a hotel for the past year, and I am tired of it. I want my own space. I have been house-hunting in Mumbai for some time now. I should zero in on one in the next few days,” says Mawra. “My routine is similar to that of a nomad. But I crave for the comforts enjoyed by a normal girl. In fact, while shooting for my debut film, Sanam Teri Kasam, I turned my vanity van into my room.”

Mawra also can’t stop praising India. She says she has received “a lot of love and respect here”. “I am happy with the variety of work I’m getting here, and the mix of people I have met,” she adds.

Mawra, who has grown up watching Bollywood films, also says she “admires” Priyanka Chopra. “I feel that my career mirrors hers. She is working in the US, and in India, while I shuttle between Pakistan and India. I cherish the feedback I have received from her on Twitter,” says Mawra, who hasn’t met Priyanka, but “would like to meet her someday”.

The actor is now looking forward to a vacation before she begins working on her next film. “I am visiting Europe for 20 days with my sister. Later on, I will also be visiting Sydney (Australia), where my parents stay, for Eid,” she says.
