I thought I would never act or dance again: Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh is one of the most sought-after actors working in the industry right now, but for a while it seemed as if he would never get the chance to step behind a camera ever again.bollywood Updated: Aug 20, 2015 20:38 IST
At present, with a series of successful films behind him, Ranveer Singh is easily one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood. But success came to him after his fair share of failures. In fact, the actor says that at one point in time, he was unsure of how his career would advance.
“There are ups and downs [in life]. I’ve had some serious injuries, which I’ve had to overcome. There was a lull period [in my career]. Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011) took a year to be made, and Lootera (2013) also got delayed because I injured my back very badly. So, for 19 months, I didn’t have a single release. For a newcomer, that could be catastrophic,” says Ranveer, adding that “fortunately, Lootera was critically acclaimed”.
The actor, who started his career with Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), also reveals that the period when he was out of action, because of his injury, was a “scary time” for him.
“Because of the injury, I didn’t even know if I would be able to shoot for any action scenes, or ever dance again. It’s not fun to be out of action. We were taught in acting school that your body is your instrument, and you are the player of that instrument. So, it is important to take care of your body. Sometimes, when these things (injuries) happen, it gets very scary,” says the 30-year-old.
Having said that, Ranveer is currently content with the way his career is shaping up. “I’ve been fortunate to have people around me to give me good advice, and help me make good decisions. So far, most of my decisions have worked out [well]. I’m very grateful for the good opportunities that I’ve got. I’m working with great film-makers. The fact that I’m now able to do things that I’ve never done before, gives me a lot of satisfaction,” he says.
