Kanika Kapoor, who has sung hits like Baby Doll, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan and Desi Look, among others, now wants to put together an all-girls band that will tour with her for her shows.

A source close to the singer says, “Usually, we don’t get to see female artistes play the drums or other instruments in a band. Kanika feels every talented female artiste should be given an opportunity to showcase her talent.”

In fact, Kanika knows a lot of girls who want to get into the music industry, but don’t know where to start. The source adds, “She performs at a lot of events and concerts, and has now decided to form her own female band.” She will soon organise contests on her social media platforms to zero in on the members of the band.

“Very rarely do you come across all-girls bands. The idea is to find the best female artistes from different places, create a band, and give them the opportunity to showcase their talent,” says Kanika.
