It’s the season of south actors making their way into Bollywood. After Prithviraj Sukumaran (Aiyyaa, 2012; and Aurangzeb) and Ram Charan Teja (Zanjeer remake), Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, who was recently seen in a cola ad too, is now set to make his Hindi film debut. Go Goa Gone director duo Krishna DK-Raj Nidimoru will start working with Mahesh towards the beginning of next year.
“Post Go Goa Gone, Raj and DK are set to start another film, a rom-com this time, featuring Saif Ali Khan and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles. Once they wrap that up, they will start work on Mahesh’s film. All three of them have already had discussions about it. In essence, everything is in place right now,” says an industry insider.
It’s believed that the yet-untitled project will be a stylish action film that the makers plan to promote on an international scale. “In all likelihood, it will be made in two languages, Hindi and Telugu,” adds the insider. Right now, Mahesh is finishing his Telugu projects, Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Baadshah. “By the time he wraps up his Telugu films, Raj and DK will also finish their movie with Saif. Other details like the leading lady are yet to be finalised. But they are in no hurry since Mahesh and the directors have a lot of time,” adds the insider.
While Babu couldn’t be reached for a comment, Raj confirms the development, saying, “Yes, we are going to work with Mahesh after Saif’s film. At this point, the film is in Telugu and the decision to also make it in Hindi will be taken when we start shooting.”
