The entire Bollywood and Sonam Kapoor’s fans were definitely not the only ones waiting for her wedding. The actor’s big day was also the busiest time of the year for the country’s paparazzi as they gathered outside the wedding venue in huge numbers to take the best pictures.
They clicked pictures of the couple, their families and the celebrities guest who turned up for the function in their best outfits. To get them to strike the best poses, the photographers shouted directions to them, complimented them and often said quite weird things.
By far, the best content to come out of Sonam Kapoor's wedding is the running commentary from the photographers outside the venue. pic.twitter.com/1GbnjlGCqb— Sahil Rizwan (@SahilRiz) May 8, 2018
“Ae Baba tumhari shaadi kab hai (Hey Baba, when are you getting married?),” one eager photographer asked Ranveer Singh as he waved at them outside the venue. “Baba ek numbaaarr, (Baba number one!),” screamed a very impressed photographer when Raveer struck a cool pose. Another just gleefully sang ‘Tune Maari Entriyan’ from his film, Gunday.
When they finally got Kareena Kapoor Khan to pose solo for them, they let out big words of appreciation. “Aah!”, “Wah! Bebo!,” they said as Kareena smiled at them.
“Are didi bol (Call her didi),” a photographer said to another as they tried to get Rani Mukerji to pose for them. Weirdly, they even made crow noises at her.
When Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor turned away from the photographer to go inside the wedding venue, one disappointed photographer could be heard making crying noises. They screamed at auto-rickshaws from driving past their frames and at each other for saying ‘thank you’ to the stars before others could take a picture. “Ae kaun bola thank you?!, (Hey, who said thank you?!),” an angry photographer screamed.
Their hard work did not go unrecognised by the Kapoor family. All the media persons were given Biryani and gulab jamuns in lunch and Sonam’s brother, Harshvardhan Kapoor distributed sweets among them after the wedding.
The photographers’ job is still not done as they will have to reassemble at The Leela for the wedding party in the evening.
After the wedding, the newlyweds will be joined by their friends and family at the reception party in the evening at The Leela in Mumbai. The guests are expected to arrive in either Indian or Western Formal.
Sonam will be heading to Cannes after the nuptials where she will walk the red carpet for the eighth time. She will be seen at Cannes on May 14 and 15, representing make-up major L’Oreal. She also has to promote her film with Kareena Kapoor, Veere Di Wedding. Sonam and Anand have postponed their honeymoon keeping her schedule in mind.
