After making a successful Bollywood debut with The Lunchbox (2013) opposite Irrfan, and being paired with Akshay Kumar in her next film, Airlift (2016), actor Nimrat Kaur remained out of sight for long. The Pilani-born actor says there were a “number of offers”, but she wasn’t able to take them up because of a variety of reasons.
The actor, who features in the web series The Test Case, says she hasn’t been “fortunate” enough to be able to do more work. “I think so far, it [my career] has been a mixed bag for me. I have been part of really great projects, but it is true that being part of some of those projects made me give up on a few films,” she says.
“After Lunchbox, I was shooting for [American TV series] Homeland, for almost half a year in US. So, I was away for that period. Then, I was shooting for Airlift. Shooting dates for the film were so staggered that I could not commit to anything else, because my time wasn’t my own. After that, I was again in US, shooting for [American TV series] Wayward Pines for six months. By then, The Test Case had come up, and shooting for that also was slightly staggered,” explains the 35-year-old actor.
Although Nimrat is happy to have been a part of such projects, she confesses that she has been through “testing times”. She says, “So, as you can see, three or four times, I haven’t been fortunate. I was getting [a lot of] offers, but I couldn’t take them up because I was involved somewhere else. I have lost out on a lot of work. 2017 was a really testing year for me, and it tested a lot of my patience. But, now that the shooting for The Test Case is over, I am excited about the future and what it has in store for me.”
