Open to regional films: Sonakshi post Lingaa experience
The actor says she's keen on doing more regional films now that she has broken the initial language barrier. She also talks about the hysteria surrounding her superstar co-actor Rajinikanth.
might have her hands full with projects in Bollywood, but that's not stopping her from trying her luck in regional cinema as well. She has recently completed her first Tamil film opposite superstar Rajinikanth, and the actor reveals that there might be more to come. "I don't find any reason to not do more regional films. The initial hurdle of language has been crossed, so I feel I can handle it now. If I get a really good script, and something that really excites me, I would love to do it," says the 27-year-old actor.
A few days back, Sonakshi travelled to Chennai for the music launch of her Tamil film, where she introduced herself as 'Rajini's heroine'. Ask her about the same, and she explains: "I have never seen that kind of craze and hysteria for anyone else. There were about 25 people - big directors, actors and technicians, everybody came on stage and spoke in Tamil. The audience was really enjoying themselves. I went up on the stage and was thinking, 'Oh God, who will clap for this new girl?'"
So, Sonakshi came up with an idea. "I introduced myself as the 'superstar's heroine', and the entire house just erupted into applause. The kind of love and respect they have for that man () is amazing. It was a humbling experience. This is my first Tamil film, so I felt like a newcomer all over again," she explains.
On a different note, when Sonakshi was asked about her absence from Salman Khan's sister Arpita's wedding in Hyderabad, the actor, who made her debut with Salman, reveals, "I couldn't go because I was promoting my film. Since our film's promotions have started, Prabhu sir (Prabhudheva; director), Ajay (Devgn) and I were unable to go."
