Ever since the remake of Subhash Ghai’s hit film, Ram Lakhan (1989), was announced, many rumours about the probable cast of the movie have been doing the rounds. In fact, there were reports that actors like Sidharth Malhotra, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh were being considered for the lead roles in the movie. However, director Rohit Shetty, who will helm the remake, says the casting process is not complete as yet. “The casting is happening. Right now, we are working hard on my next. Our entire focus is on that. If the casting had happened, why would we not announce it or talk about it? But when it (the casting) is not finalised, what do I say?” says Rohit.

Film-maker Rohit Shetty is known for his blockbuster movies that have been Bollywood hits. He talks about his wish to please critics as well as masses.

At the same time, the director is not sure when he will start work on the next instalments of two of his hit series, Singham and Golmaal. “I am looking for scripts. If I get good scripts [for the two films], I will make them. Why will I let them go? They are such big brands. I am working [on finding good scripts], but when I think of taking up a particular one, I drop it, thinking, ‘No, it won’t be that good or the audience might not like it.’ So, I keep thinking, and dropping [ideas],” he says.

The director adds that since both the franchises are big hits, he doesn’t want people to feel “cheated” when they come and watch the new parts. “When they come to watch the films, they should feel that we are giving them more than whatever we have given them in the earlier instalments,” says the director.
