Pankaj Tripathi to play the role of a south Indian actor from the ‘90s in the Shakeela biopic.bollywood Updated: Jul 31, 2018 15:30 IST
Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who was last seen in Kaala has been signed to play a pivotal role in the biopic of Shakeela, the undisputed queen of semi-adult and adult films in the ‘90s. Tripathi will be seen as a Southern star of the era. Richa Chadha will be playing the role of Shakeela.
Speaking about this, Pankaj said in a statement, “I am delighted to be part of this biopic. It talks about a life of Shakeela that people need to hear and my character is someone who is her friend and also an actor. It is amazing all the stories, anecdotes and incidents that have happened in her life. Glad I could be part of this film.”
A still from the biopic featuring Richa had also been released earlier in which she was seen in a typical Malayali attire - the Kasavu sari.
Speaking about her role, Richa said, “The challenge for the look of the film but also a good one is that the story traces the journey of Shakeela’s younger days to her becoming a popular figure. Thus the looks span over years and years and with each passing time her look changed and thus to show that is challenging but also for me as an actor its gratifying that I get to grow with the real character on celluloid. Shakeela is still a legend and we wish to do complete justice to her when the film is ready.”
