Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences on Twitter. His tweet read "We will remember Sadashiv Amrapurkar as a versatile actor, popular across generations. RIP. My deepest condolences to his family".
Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai also took to Twitter to express their grief:
