It might be March, but if you’ve stepped out in the afternoon sun in Mumbai, you know just how hot it is. Imagine then what it must be to be out in the sun all day in the arid regions of Rajasthan. And if you thought Bollywood personalities have it easy, think again. A few days back, while shooting for his upcoming film P.K. in Mandawa (in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan), director Rajkumar Hirani had a severe heat stroke.
A source present on the sets of the Aamir Khan-starrer says, “Hirani had been shooting continuously on the streets of Mandawa and Jaipur in the scorching heat. And in the
middle of one of the shots, some unit members realised that he looked extremely weak. The unit panicked, especially when he continued to feel unwell even after an hour — and almost fainted.” Afraid that it could a heart ailment, unit members rushed him to a nearby hospital. Hirani underwent emergency tests, and it was revealed that he had a heat stroke. “Aamir, along with the rest of the unit, was very worried initially. They were relieved only when they found out that Raju was alright,” the source adds.
Aamir was kept constantly updated about Hirani’s health. “The doctors assured him that Hirani just needed to rest and there was nothing to worry about. Everyone was happy that he rested for two days,” adds the source.
While Raju couldn’t be reached for a comment, the film’s spokesperson confirmed the news. P.K., which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput, will release in the first half of 2014.
