by two weeks to avoid a clash with Sanjay Dutt’s comic caper
Double Dhamaal
. Initially, both the films were scheduled to release on June 24 but plans changed after Salman came into
Chillar Party
as a co-producer.
Says a crew-member of the kiddie flick helmed by Vikas Bahl and Nitesh Tiwari, “Salman was at a special screening a few days ago and was really impressed with
Chillar Party
. When Ronnie (Screwvala) asked him if he’d like to come on board, he immediately agreed.”
However, when the actor-turned-producer learnt that
Double Dhamaal
was releasing on the same day, he had reservations about competing with a long-time friend and conveyed his reluctance to Screwvala who pushed the release to July 8. Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO UTV Motion Pictures, confirmed that Salman was on board but declined to elaborate on his desire to avoid a clash with
Double Dhamaal.
Says Kapur, “
Chillar Party
will mark Salman’s entry into movie production. He will get actively involved with the marketing and promotion of the film once his forthcoming
Ready
releases.”
