Shah Rukh Khan to push the release date of Raees again?
Shah Rukh Khan may shift the release date of his next film, owing to the current tension between India and Pakistan.Updated: Oct 01, 2016 08:46 IST
After Fan, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in an action thriller, Raees, directed by Rahul Dholakia, and co-produced by Shah Rukh, and Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s production house Excel Entertainment.
The film has been under the scanner for a while now because of its release date, which is clashing with Hrithik Roshan’s next film, Kaabil, produced by his father Rakesh Roshan. Both the projects are slated to release on January 26 next year.
But an insider reveals that Shah Rukh, along with the makers of his next, is considering shifting the release date of his film. And the clash with Hrithik’s movie is not the only reason for it, the bigger cause being the presence of Pakistani actor Mahira Khan in the film.

“SRK’s film is introducing Mahira. After the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) asked all Pakistani actors to return to their country in the wake of the Uri terror attacks, the makers are now worried this development can severely affect the business of the film,” says the insider.

The source says SRK, who was recently in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) to shoot for another project with Anushka Sharma, had been coordinating with his team about his next step. “Because of the MNS order, the makers want to push the release date to avoid double losses. Also, they can’t afford to have the movie boycotted at the last moment due to the current tension between India and Pakistan. If the film is postponed, it will be a big win for Hrithik. Both Dilwale (2015) and Fan didn’t fare well at the box office. So, SRK will avoid taking a risk like that,” reveals the source.
We tried contacting Shah Rukh and Ritesh, but they remained unavailable for comments. Rahul, and the representatives from SRK’s production house, chose not to comment.
