This is a big win for both Shraddha, daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor, and Rajkummar, who rose to mainstream prominence last year with Bareilly Ki Barfi, after a series of critically acclaimed performances in smaller films.
Stree is about the men of a small town who are haunted by a woman’s ghost every festive season. The film has been written by the directing team of Raj and DK, best known for films such as Go Goa Gone and A Gentleman.
The Hindustan Times review, awarding the film three stars, noted, “The laughs are inconsistent, and the plotting feels sloppy and rushed. The ideas are fine, but the writing needed work... Rao is likeable as ever...It is Shraddha Kapoor, surprisingly enough, who brings a certain charm to her initially inscrutable character.”
This is Shraddha’s first hit since 2016’s Baaghi. She will next be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
