Going by the enthusiasm of fans to meet Irrfan Khan and Nirmat Kaur — lead actors of film The Lunchbox, along with producers of the movie Karan Johar and Siddharth Roy Kapur, as part of the HT Stars in the City contest held on Monday, it seems that the way to the heart of Delhiites could be through a movie on food.

“Since the cliché about ‘the way to a man’s heart is through the stomach’ I guess have stopped looking for other ways to a heart. We have tried to explore this statement further in the film,” joked Irrfan. Also accompanied by film’s director, Ritesh Batra, the session, conducted by HT City’s editor Sonal Kalra, included a lot of intelligent questions, crazy requests from the audience, recollection of funny moments during the filmmaking process which the team shared.

With a line-up of 16 producers having funded this project (including Karan and Siddharth), Ritesh says that this movie is blessed. “When we started the journey, I thought I would be very old by the time we finish making it. But all these people came on board to make it possible,” he added. “I am extremely proud to be associated with a film like The Lunchbox. I was completely bowled by it when I saw it. I thought very selfishly, that in times to come, when this movie will be mentioned in history, it will have my name as |part of it’s credits,” Karan said.

Though the film’s trailer has tempting dishes lead actor (Female) Nimrat Kaur confessed that she didn’t really cook much of it. “We had a food stylist on set who prepared the dishes step by step. I mainly helped with the garnishing,” she said. Looking dapper in a suit, Irrfan, considered to be the thinking woman’s poster boy said he was in a dilemma before accepting the role of an old guy but is not afraid of playing father. “It’s just the beginning. If this works, I will take over all the father roles in the industry,” he said.
