Vir Das joins the club of singers, croons for Amit Sahni Ki List

Acclaimed Bollywood actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt have all sung for their films in the past. Now, joining that club is Vir Das, who has turned singer for his next, Amit Sahni Ki List.

, who has turned singer for his next, Amit Sahni Ki List. Although the actor is making his debut as a singer in Bollywood now, he has previously sung for his band, Alien Chutney.

Interestingly, Vir has sung not just one, but two songs in the film. The two tracks, Devika and Pyaar Hai Kutti Cheez, have released today (June 18) and are already getting a good response.

Devika is a short, simple song that Vir’s character, Amit Sahani, sings for his girlfriend on a yacht.

Incidentally, the song wasn’t initially going to feature in the film, but director Ajay Bhuyan wrote it at 5 am on a yacht.

Vir, as a rule, always has a guitar on set. So, together, they quickly composed it, keeping in mind that they had to have it ready by sunrise. It was then pictured with the rising sun as the backdrop.

We’re told that they just about made it on time, and had to shoot the whole thing in one take.

Pyaar hai kutti cheez, on the other hand, is an out and out commercial, masala song.
