The 37-year-old, who will portray former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin in the film Azhar , was recently asked if his son plays cricket, he said, “He loves cricket. He’s kind of dabbling with a lot of things right now — cricket, football, capoeira, kickboxing, and he’s just 6 years old. He’s a bundle of energy. He does love cricket. He watches the promo (of the film) on repeat,” and he joked, “I have to cover his eyes when I’m kissing the ladies. He’s confused who his mommy is!”

His many kisses in the films he has done earned him the tag of serial kisser, he shared that the moniker was a marketing suggestion which was picked up by others. “People who actually admire my work, they don’t see me as a serial kisser! That was a tag given by me to myself. Something that I think our marketing team, at that time, had come up with, then, I started saying it, and later, then media picked it up. Kheeche ja rahe hain abhi bhi, 12 saal ho gye hain abhi tak wahi likhte aare hain,” he said.

He also said that the audience don’t buy tickets to see him kissing. “I know that people don’t go and buy tickets to see a kiss. There is more to a film and to an actor than just that. But all of us like to label things, there are things that are like templates to actors. For instance, Salman removes his T-shirt, Shah Rukh is known to strike a pose with his hands spread and that’s his signature pose... there are templates to everything. That’s how the human mind is. And you should actually not run away from it. For me it’s amusing to know I have a template that people relate to. I know that it has generated some interests in my early years but that’s not something that has gotten me this far. There is choices of films, good films, working with some great people who have supported me through the journey, that’s what it is.” And when asked about who would he like to kiss in his next films, he joked, “Anyone, whoever is my next co-star... I am a very professional actor.”
