Even as Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Detective Byomkesh Bakshy awaits the theatrical release, filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee has already planned a sequel of the movie.

Even as Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Detective Byomkesh Bakshy awaits the theatrical release, filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee has already planned a sequel of the movie.

"I am very interested in making Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! 2 because in this film, it's the detective's his first case. If this film is a success, then I want to make one more and show the audience a new adventure of Byomkesh," Dibakar says. The film, based on a character originally created by Bengali writer Saradindu Bandyopadhyay, features Sushant Singh Rajput as the protagonist, and it is slated to release on April 3.

Banerjee says his movie is different from the Byomkesh Bakshi TV show. "That was a TV serial, and that works differently. A film takes you to a different world," the director says.
